Birds of Royalston

Royalston has approximately 194 species of birds that have been sighted or heard on the estate or adjoining nature reserve.

Royalston currently has one bird hide situated at the back of the Boma. The building of the hide, water feature and accompanying solar system, that operates the water feature, were all donated by Royalston residents. We are convinced that we should have the same bird species visiting the water feature that the famed Island Nature Reserve has. There are plans to install a few more bird hides in the future.

Here is a List of birds found on Royalston.

If you would like to participate in birding outings outside of Royalston we suggest that you join Birdlife Eastern Cape (BLEC). You can contact them on https://www.birdlife-ec.co.za/.
